I’ve been absent for a long time. My bad. BUT I have a good excuse! I’m pregnant. John made a really amazing video for the announcement and I’ll be sure to upload it soon. Anyway, I’ve been so tired that any free minute I have has been spent napping. Next week  we, hopefully, find out the gender, which also means I’m halfway there.

I’m exhausted and going to do my best to make this post coherent, but I don’t see that going too well. So here’s a quick “list” of what’s been going on

  1. Getting the house ready for the new baby while I can. This means tons and tons of purging. I’ve sent around 10 bags of stuff to good will over the last few weeks and currently have 2 more sitting downstairs that also need to go. I know having another child means we will accumulate more stuff, thus I want to get rid of as much extra stuff we currently have as possible before hand.
  2. Listing clothes and things on Mercari and Poshmark. I have added around 30 items to my closet on both Mercari and Poshmark and plan on adding even more. I’m accepting all offers on items listed. So please check out my closet and make an offer. my user name for both is mld303. Many of the items listed on Mercari are under $15! This includes tons of J.Crew, Anthropologie, and baby items
  3. Trying to not gain a ton of weight with this pregnancy, but still be healthy. I”ve been doing a lot of walking and the pregnancy workouts from Tone It Up
  4. I’m in that weird stage where most maternity stuff is still too big but normal clothes aren’t the best option either. I can still wear most non maternity tops, but bottoms I’m firmly, for the most part, in maternity wear. Luckily, I’ve found some normal clothes that are great when sporting a bump. I ordered these shorts from J. Crew in both a small and a medium in the red and the blue. The small fits perfectly right now, but I know within a month I’ll need the medium to accommodate my growing bump. I’m excited I’ll be able to wear these after I have the baby as well. Price wise I don’t feel they are too bad. Currently they are $49.50 but I purchased them when J. Crew was running an additional 30% off everything sale.                                                                                                                                                                                                      I’ve been wearing a lot of lose fitting dresses. I picked this one up from Anthropologie during a random 50% off dresses sale they were having. It’s very flattering and I even sized down, and that’s with the bump. Again, I will be able to wear this after I have the baby which I’m happy about.  I have my eye on this two toned dress too, but can’t decide.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                  The final non maternity item I purchased and have been wearing almost everyday is this pair of sweatpants from J.Crew. I got the sunfaded blue color. The color is so pretty in person and now I feel I need to get the sweatshirt in the same color. I got the sweatpants in a size small, which is actually a little large on me right now. But the drawstring waist helps, and again, I’ll appreciate the extra room in a few months. Usually when I get home from work the first thing I do is change into this pair of sweatpants. I try to make sure I do laundry at night so they are always clean.
  5. I have two pairs of maternity pants I bought. This time around I broke down and bought two pairs of 7 for all mankind. John pointed out how miserable I was in my maternity jeans last time and said just buy pairs you will love and be comfortable in. I love these because there is elastic on the sides which I think will be great for postpartum wear. I bought a pair of jeans and a white pair of denim. I think I’ll eventually have to get an over the belly pair, but for now I’m loving these.
  6. Finally, the last thing we’ve been up to is we bought a new over the stove microwave. We are in the process of updating the appliances in the kitchen. We got a new dishwasher, and now the over the stove microwave. Next up is the stove! everything looks so nice. I can’t wait to get a stove.

That’s all for now. I’ll post the pregnancy announcement and when we find out the gender. I’ll also try and post any cute baby items I find. In the meantime please give my public Instagram Clevercraftscrochet a follow. It’s mostly my cats and crochet items for sale. I’d appreciate the support. A portion of all sales goes to animal rescue.  I hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend!!

Baby Things

I really did think I was going to post more about “baby things,” but exhaustion and swelling happened pretty early on in my pregnancy and sadly, the two are still here. So I’m going to attempt to do a small update as coherently as I can before I completely pass out from exhaustion.

Getting the room ready:

Truth be told, John and I didn’t really start working on the nursery until the middle of my second trimester. Now, waiting that long wasn’t really my choice, but I am pretty dependent on John these days when it comes to moving furniture and painting. I had to ask him several times before he finally got a friend over to move the spare room furniture into storage and paint the room (I’ll post pictures of the nursery… it’s almost done just missing the glider!).

can you believe how swollen my feet are?!

Shopping for baby clothes:

I also didn’t start buying clothes for the baby until we found out the gender at 20 weeks. Carter’s and Janie and Jack are my two favorite places to shop for baby clothes. Carter’s has great sales, but I also highly recommend checking out Ebay and Totspot. It’s amazing how many people are selling baby clothes brand new with tags! No joke, I bought the baby a beautiful camel toggle coat by Janie and Jack off ebay, brand new with tags for $30 shipped and the coat retailed for $200 and a Carter’s sleep sack, blue with elephants, brand new with tags for 54 cents and $3 shipping! Even though I love clothes, I haven’t bought that many for the baby. I know babies grow quickly, so I’m hesitant to buy too many items. But trust me when I say, Wallace has more than enough to last him the first 6 months.

I know babies won’t really start playing toys until they are 4-5 months old, but we have bought a few plush toys, think stuffed animals and this ball from Carter’s, and been gifted some as well. But when it comes to toys I’ve been holding off while I do research on the best toys for babies that will help develop skills and jump start the learning process. I did buy these super cute shakers off Amazon and have my eye on these other toys for no reason other than they are just so cute ( Fox Bandana Buddy / Roll Around Hedge Hog  / Sort and Spin Fish Bowl / Alphabet Stack and Stick Zoo )

Car seat and Stroller:

After a great deal of research and talking to friends with babies and small children, we decided to go with the UppaBaby Mesa car seat and the UppaBaby Cruz Stroller. While I actually can’t say too much on this topic yet because Wallace isn’t here yet and we haven’t used them, I can tell you that the car seat is super easy to remove from the base and snap into the stroller frame and vice versa. The car seat is light weight, a mere 9lbs, and the stroller is so easy to push, maneuver, and fold up, that they are well worth the money.

Swaddle blankets:

Same as above, we haven’t used these yet so I can only say a few words on them. My friend recommended the brand Aden and Anais to me and I’m so glad she did. These swaddle blankets are super soft, a great size of 47” x 47”, they wash well, the fabric is breathable, great price, and the signature prints couldn’t be cuter.  Apparently these blankets get softer the more you wash them as well. For whatever reason, I really wanted a particular set Liam, the Brave, which had superhero dogs and paper airplanes, but couldn’t find them in stores. Luckily Amazon had them in stock and I was able to get a set of 4 blankets for $40

While I’d love to write more and share more fun things we’ve purchased, I’m exhausted and going to head to bed. Thanks for stopping in and bearing with me during the long silence 😦

Happy Friday!

uggg so sorry for all the silence lately. Between a job promotion and getting ready for a baby things are a bit chaotic. I promised myself I’d sit down and write a post, even if it was a small one. I decided to do a little update on a few things that are currently going on.

  1. As I shared in a previous post, I’m pregnant! John and I are so excited to be expecting our first little bundle of joy. I will say I am amazed and put off my the #1 question I’ve been asked since our announcement, “Congrats! Was the baby planned or an accident?” Did your parents fail that badly in teaching you manners? 1. never ask that. It’s rude. 2. PLANNED I’m 29 years old, I know how to be responsible.
  2. John and  I have decided to do the nursery in gray and white and then add blue accents if it’s a boy and pink accents if it’s a girl. We won’t find out the gender until right before Christmas. I don’t know how I’m going to wait until then.
  3.  We haven’t bought any baby clothes, really. We bought a few gender neutral onesies and some baby socks. We have, however, developed quite a nice book collection for our sweet baby. Naked but well read.
  4. Despite being 16.5 weeks pregnant I’m not fully into maternity clothes, yet. I am in maternity pants, but I’m lucky enough I can still wear a large amount of my non-maternity tops. I guarantee in the next two or three weeks I’ll probably be strictly in maternity tops. I’ve been a little shocked at how hard it is to find maternity clothes I really like. I’m going to do a post on some of my favorite maternity items I have purchased so far. I will say that this belly band was a life savior for me until I was big enough for maternity bottoms. It really helped me during that in between time. Plus they are super comfortable and machine washable.
  5. In an effort to clear up some closet space and create some storage room I’m doing a massive cleaning out of my closet. I’ve listed a fair amount of items with more to come. So please feel free to check out my items for sale and submit offers! https://poshmark.com/closet/mld303
  6. Finally, I am just going o leave this article called the 3-7-14 Shopping Rule here. It’s a great rule and makes a lot of sense. Enjoy!

Have a Happy Thanksgiving and safe travels to all of you hitting the road!
