Weekend Plans

John and Wallace are headed to Whitsett this weekend, but I’m staying home to have some time to myself and attempt to make a dent in the longest to do list ever. I’m really nervous for Wallace to go without me, I know he will be with his dad, but the only times Wallace has spent the night away from me, he’s been at my parents’ house. I’m going to miss my little man something fierce.

Here is my To Do List for the weekend.

  1. Finish 2 blankets I’ve been crocheting, one I just have the boarder to finish and then to block it
  2. CLEAN – everything upstairs and downstairs
  3. clean out my closet and list some stuff on Poshmark and Mercari
  4. see if my dad can take a shelf down – paint wall behind the shelf if he can
  5. paint the banister
  6. sneak off to Moe’s for lunch (I’ve been craving their vegetation nachos for weeks now)
  7. have dinner with my parents
  8. hopefully sleep in some
  9. Take Otis on a few walks.
  10. Laundry, never ever ending
  11. Buy a vase at Pottery Barn or West Elm (currently debating between two)

I’d like to sneak a run in as well. I’ve been doing “really well” losing weight, but started slacking this past week and ended gaining 0.8lbs back. BUT I have lost 22 in the last 2 years. Not as much as I’d like, but half way to my goal weight loss of 40lbs. For a while I was doing really well with getting on our POS treadmill in the evenings, but I got the flu, twice, 2-3 weeks ago, and am just now feeling better, so I haven’t been on that thing in almost a month.  I also noticed I’m snacking at work again, which is really bad! I was easily losing a pound a week when I wasn’t snacking at work, eating a sensible dinner and not eating after 8pm. After this weekend, I’m going restart that routine and hopefully I can shed these last 20lbs a lot faster than the first 20 took to lose. #fingerscrossed.

What are everyone else’s plans this weekend? With so much do to I am doubting I’ll have time to do any online shopping, but I’m going to try and squeeze some in because I’m in the process of organizing our pantry and under the bathroom sink. I have some organizational items picked out from The Container Store, but I want to try and find some more affordable options if possible. Anthropologie also got in some cute clothes and I’ve been itching to go there and do a bit of wandering in the store as well. We shall see how much I get done on my to do list. Wish me luck!

Summer Whites

white dresses

wave dress / flower smocked dress / tunic dress

lace dress / flutter sleeve dress / tassel dress

I’ve always had a love hate relationship with white dresses. I love them, but with my fair skin I feel they aren’t always the best option for me and it’s really hard to find a light weight white dress that isn’t see through. I recently discovered these 6 cute white dresses and couldn’t help myself. In particular I have my eye on the wave dress and the flower smocked dress. All would look cute with a jean jacket for work, which can easily be removed for happy hour at your favorite bar.

Happy shopping!

A Chore Filled Weekend

I am not sure how, but every weekend John and I seem to get a million things done, but still feel like we accomplished nothing. This past weekend flew by, but, hey, don’t they all?

John was sick most of the week, so Friday night we just hung out and watched episodes of Bob’s Burgers on Netflix. Saturday John had an eye appointment that turned into a 3 hour ordeal. Luckily, Lens Crafter’s is located in the mall, so I did a little shopping while John had his eye appointment and ordered new lenses. We grabbed lunch and bought John this pair of Sperry Gold Cup boat shoes. A few things about these Sperry boat shoes, first, they are perforated making them super breathable for summer. I’m hoping because they are perforated they won’t get the shoe sweat funk most summer shoes get.  Second, there is a non-marking rubber sole that is wave-siped making them perfect for wet-dry traction, so no slipping! Third, the sole inside is padded. John an I went on a walk and he said the shoes are very supportive and comfortable. Finally, “the Gold Cup Collection takes the inimitable Sperry style to the next level with hand-burnished leathers, meticulous design and 18-karat gold-plate details for a touch of shine to seal the deal.”  John has need a pair of “summer shoes” for a while now, I’m so over him wearing tennis shoes all the time, and I think we found the perfect pair. Now John has his eye on this Gold Cup pair.

Let’s be honest, it’s really hard to leave the mall empty handed, right? Which is why on Saturday I got this super soft and adorable top from Anthropologie. I love the peach color, surprisingly a color missing from my wardrobe, and the detailing around the sleeves, neck, and cute dotted chiffon back panel are the added little details to make this shirt perfect. I’m planning on wearing it with my blue and white seersucker shorts (similar to these).

Sunday was the usual, church, lunch at El Caporal, grocery shopping, cleaning, a long walk with Otis around the lake, laundry, and Animation Domination. I always wake up Monday mornings thinking, “maybe while I was asleep a third weekend day was added.” Hasn’t happened yet, but maybe one day… At least this coming weekend is a 3 day weekend! Who has fun memorial plans?

Until next time, happy Tuesday!

Coffee Date

I’m doing a terrible job lately on updating this blog. I swear I really am going to try and do better. I always think I’m not busy, then I look at my planner and realize just how busy John and I really are. I guess one could say we are steadily busy, but not so much so that we feel stressed or overwhelmed. That being said, here’s a quick, little update on what we have been up to since Thanksgiving.

Thanksgiving:

John and I went to Thanksgiving at his parents house were we had a low key dinner. John’s sister and her family were in town and  his aunt and uncle came down from D.C, which I was very happy about because they are two of my favorite in-law relatives.

Books:                                                                                                                                                   *Just finished: We Were Liars by E. Lockhart, it is amazing 5 stars.

*Currently reading: Snow by Orphan Pamuk, which I am enjoying.

* Want to read: The Hangman’s Daughter by Oliver Pozsch and The Sleeper and The Spindle by Neil Gaiman

Holidays:

*John and I put up the tree and then I attempted to get some pictures of the animals under the tree. Key word being “attempted”.                                               Capture *Ray sent us a beautiful wreath for the front door. It’s real and smells amazing. The only thing I’m sad about is that it won’t last forever.

*About 1/2 of all my holiday shopping is done! Those that are left on the list, with the exception of one, I know what I’m going to give them, I just have to find time get to the store to pick up the gifts.

* I’ve decided to get rid of all the ornaments John and I don’t like (for some reason we’ve received some really terrible ones over the years) and get new ones we do like. I can’t wait until we go home to RVA in a few weeks and I can go to Pottery Barn and pick up some new ones. I got these (pictured below) last year and I LOVE them. PB has the best stuff. We also need some stocking holders, and I’m hoping to find them at PB as well.

Clothes:

* I’m currently wanting every clothing item I see in stores right now, particularly Anthropologie. These 4 items are at the top of my wish list for cute things from Anthropologie. Dear Santa, please?

Capture Blue Dress / Red Top / Navy Dress / Sweater Vest / Stripe Top

* I bought this red skirt from J. Crew a few weeks ago and I can’t stop wearing it. The skirt is so comfortable and looks cute no matter how it’s styled. I’m definitely picking up the black and blue versions this weekend….maybe the white one too.

Tradesy + Fall Clothes

1I’ve been cleaning out my closet and have a ton of great Anthropologie and J. Crew items for sale; many of which still have the tags or have never been worn! I’ve listed them all on Tradesy (you can see my items by clicking here). Please check them out! There are tons of great pieces for fall and winter. I’m constantly adding new items, so be sure to check back. Feel free to send me best reasonable offers too.

Disclosure: This post is NOT sponsored by Tradesy. This post is something I have done on my own. I enjoy Tradesy and think it is a great way to buy and sell clothing

Bridal Shower What We Wore

I was pleasantly surprised to receive some messages from people asking where various articles of clothing worn at the Bridal Shower (yesterday’s post) are from. So, I decided to do a “What We Wore” post. Bare with me while I attempt a few “what I/We Wore” posts. I may do ok and keep going or I may do terribly and abandon them. Only time will tell.ImageLeft to Right: Me. Megan, Caroline
