TV: John and I just finished watching True Detective, an 8 episode miniseries that I highly recommend. I’m really glad the show was only 8 episodes long, any longer and the whole storyline would have been destroyed.
I’m always behind on trends, but if anyone lists to Podcasts and is looking for a really amazing one, check out Serial (synopsis here). The first series just ended a few weeks ago and because of the narrator’s research. There is a court appeal pending and Adnan is due back in court Jan. 13, 2015. I’ve never listened to a Podcast before, so now the bar is set pretty high. Season 2 of Serial is set to begin soon.
Last Saturday I watched the documentary Sexy Baby and really enjoyed it. An ex adult film star, a 12 year old girl and a 22 year old who yearns for “normal” private parts are chronicled in this thought provoking doc about how porn, social media and pop culture affect women and girls.-Summary from IMBD
Books: I’m still working my way through Snow by Orhan Pamuk, it really is an amazing book, and I just don’t have any time to read lately, which makes me very sad. My parents gave me the new Anne Perry book, Blood on the Water, for Christmas and I can’t wait to read it.
I’ve been designing a Young Adult Literature course and during my research came across this list of 100 of the Best- Ever Teen novels from NPR. How many have you read?
Random: John gave me my birthday presents early, these amazing Tory Burch booties (that I’m already wearing) and this Dear Creatures dress I’ve been eyeing at Anthropologie forever. My size kept going in and out of stock. I’m not sure how he managed to get it, but I love it, but not as much as I love John. #besthubbyever
And most importantly, big HAPPY BIRTHDAY to the BEST dad in the world.
